Burhanuddin Abdullah

Bachelor of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran (1974) and Master of Arts in Economics, College of Business, Michigan State University (1984).

He has served as President Director since 2021 and was reappointed in 2024 for a term until 2027 based on the Deed of Resolution Statement of PT Sinar Mas Multiartha Tbk No. 20 dated 16 May 2024. Previously, he held the position of Independent Commissioner of the Company (2016–June 2021).

Served as Staff of the Desa Directorate General of Agricultural Plantation Affairs, Banda Aceh (1975), Staff of PT Inti Indorayon Utama Toba (1976–1977), Staff of Production Credit Department of Bank Indonesia (1978–1983), Staff of General Research and Statistics Affairs of Bank Indonesia (1984–1985), Staff of the Governor of Bank Indonesia (1986–1988), Asia Pacific Department Staff of IMF, Washington DC (1989–1993), Assistant Executive Director of IMF, South East Asia Group (1993–1999).

In addition, he also served as Head of the International Economic Cooperation Division (1999), Deputy Head of Foreign Affairs Department of Bank Indonesia (1999), Director of Foreign Affairs Directorate of Bank Indonesia (1999–2002), Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (2002–2003), and Governor of Bank Indonesia (2003–2008). He later served as Rector of Universitas Indonesia (2009–2014).
